Haiti, a culinary touristic destination “September declared month of gastronomy”

The Tourism Ministry has decreed September month of Haitian gastronomy. The decision to promote the country’s culinary arts during this month is due, among others, to the fact that two major events which highlight our cuisine. In fact, from September 1st to 7th, the third edition of Burger Week is taking place throughout many restaurants in Port-au-Prince and from September 16th to 19th, the successful culinary festival Goût et Saveurs Lakay which gathers the most recognizable Haitian chefs as well as international chefs is going to take place in the Haitian capital.

The idea of a festival "Goût et Saveurs Lakay" was initiated in 2011. It originated from a dynamic team of people who understand that Haitian gastronomy could be part of the country’s tourism promotion elements. "Making of Haiti a culinary destination" is the theme around which Goût et Saveurs Lakay 2016 will be held.
