A Haitian delegation is currently in Washington, D.C., advocating for a much longer-term renewal of the HOPE/HELP Act, Georges B. Sassine, former president of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), said on Magik 9 on July 15, 2026.

"There is a mission in Washington to advocate for the HOPE/HELP Act to be renewed for a much longer period because the one-year extension has not changed much. In fact, 1,400 jobs have just been lost at CODEVI," he said during the Panel Magik program.
