Chad will deploy 1,500 soldiers to Haiti as part of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) established by the United Nations, Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby announced on Monday.
Haiti, the poorest country in the Americas, has for years been plagued by violence from criminal gangs, which commit murders, rapes, looting, and kidnappings.
