Freedom of expression is a fundamental right, enshrined in the Haitian Constitution and in the international instruments ratified by Haiti. It constitutes one of the essential pillars of any democratic society, offering every citizen the possibility to make their voice heard, to criticize institutions, and to take part in public debate. In the digital age, this freedom is now exercised largely through social media—open, instantaneous, and accessible spaces where ideas, opinions, information, and sometimes disinformation are exchanged.
