On Thursday, September 18, 2025, around noon, the commune of Bassin Bleu, in the Nord-Ouest department of Haiti, was struck by a brutal attack carried out by about sixty members of the Ti Bwadòm gang. The assailants set fire to the local police substation, destroyed vehicles, looted the KOPLES credit union, and kidnapped several people, including employees of the institution. A teacher, whose identity has yet to be officially confirmed, was found dead, his body burned.
