An International Symposium for the 70th Anniversary of Compas Direct

On Friday, July 25, 2025, the 70th anniversary of compas direct will be celebrated not only through music, but also through thought, debate, and writing. Indeed, on the initiative of the Alliance of Graduate Students and Young Professionals (HGSECPA), an international symposium will be organized around this local musical genre that is a source of pride for Haitian culture beyond its borders.

The HGSECPA symposium will be held under the theme: “Konpa: 70 Years of Rhythm, History, and Future,” and will bring together several experts in various culture-related fields to explore the past, present, and future of this emblematic genre of Haitian culture.
