Reintegration and Protection Children Victims of Violence

With the intensification of armed violence in Haiti, which is particularly affecting children and adolescents, the Haitian government, in collaboration with UNICEF and with the support of the European Union via ECHO, has officially launched the Program for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Children and Youth (PREJEUNES). The inauguration ceremony took place on July 4, 2025, at the VDH offices in Pétion-Ville, bringing together high-ranking government officials as well as representatives of international organizations and civil society.

This three-year program responds to a major humanitarian and social crisis. According to the United Nations Secretary-General's 2025 report on children and armed conflict, 2,269 serious violations were recorded against 1,373 children in Haiti, including their recruitment by armed gangs. This surge in violence represents a 490% increase compared to the previous year.
