On the occasion of the 31st edition of Livres en folie, writer and intellectual Roody Edmé gave a lecture on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Michèle Tardieu Library in Pétion-Ville, centered around his book La plume dans la plaie (“The Pen in the Wound”). This speech, marked by political and civic reflections, gave the author an opportunity to directly address Haitian youth—a passionate call for responsibility, organization, and engagement.

“It is time for the youth to take the country’s future into their own hands,” declared Roody Edmé in his opening remarks, immediately setting the tone for a civically charged conference. And to face that future, dreaming is not enough—action is required: “You need to get organized to bring your demands forward,” he advised.<
