28 Areas Lost to Gangs: Gang Hegemony Began on June 1, 2021, Claims CARDH

The Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights (CARDH) has analyzed the four years since the assault on Martissant on June 1, 2021, which opened the floodgates to armed gangs. Since that date, 27 other territories have fallen under gang control — a clear indication of the escalation of gang violence and the establishment of their hegemony. CARDH has used the occasion to issue recommendations to the authorities in place.
