APM Rekindles Discussion on Judicial Independence in the Constitution

The Professional Association of Magistrates (APM) organized a training workshop on Wednesday, May 28, in Pétion-Ville, focusing on the constitutional guarantee of judicial independence. An audience composed of experienced magistrates engaged in discussions on potential solutions to strengthen the independence of the judiciary. They also submitted proposals as contributions.

The independence of the judiciary is a matter of great concern to Haitian magistrates, who gathered for this training workshop at the initiative of the Professional Association of Magistrates (APM). These magistrates, who have criticized the lack of judicial independence in the draft version of the Constitution, took the opportunity to explore possible paths toward reinforcing judicial independence.
