Pétion-Ville City Hall Addresses Concerns Over Waste Accumulation

For several days, garbage trucks filled with waste were parked around Pétion-Ville Town Hall and Saint-Pierre Square without being removed, causing frustration among road users. Many criticized the municipal authorities for their inaction. Speaking to the press, Amazan Staco, a member of Pétion-Ville’s municipal commission, clarified the situation.

According to Staco, insecurity in the area has made the Truitier landfill, the designated waste disposal site, inaccessible. “Our trucks were parked in front of the town hall for over eight days because we could not reach Truitier due to the presence of gangs in that area,” he explained. “We had to wait for calm before we could deposit the waste there.”
