Haitian Olympic Committee Issues Urgent Warning for 2024 Olympics

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11 in Paris, France. The Haitian delegation, which will compete in athletics, boxing, gymnastics, judo, swimming, and potentially taekwondo, is struggling to secure the necessary funds for athlete preparation and travel to Paris. The delegation will include at least 20 people. Dr. Hans Larsen, President of the Haitian Olympic Committee (COH), is calling on state authorities and the private sector to support the COH, ensuring Haitian athletes can represent their country under optimal conditions.

The Paris Olympics, the biggest multi-sport event this summer, are just weeks away. Around 206 countries will participate. While some nations are counting down the days until they arrive in France, Haiti faces uncertainty. The Haitian Olympic Committee is seeking partners to cover the budget for their participation amidst economic challenges. With an estimated budget of approximately $405,000 for preparation and participation, the COH currently has less than $200,000, explained COH President Dr. Hans Larsen.
