Since the failed negotiations last December between the Prime Minister, his allies who signed the December 21 agreement, and opposition political organizations under the auspices of CARICOM, it has become increasingly difficult for the parties to return to the negotiating table.

In his address to the nation on February 7th, following a tense day in Port-au-Prince and some provincial towns where people took to the streets demanding his resignation, the Prime Minister announced the resumption of the dialogue process with the opposition.

More than two weeks after this announcement, Ariel Henry has yet to restart political talks. A close aide to the Prime Minister admitted to Le Nouvelliste that restarting dialogue is "complicated and painful."
