Significant Investments on the Horizon for Haitian Ports

In an interview with Le Nouvelliste on January 17, 2023, Jocelin Villier, the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), revealed ambitious plans for the Haitian port sector. The primary objectives include modernizing the country's ports, enhancing services, increasing revenue from port facilities, and improving the performance of stakeholders. Villier discussed ongoing and upcoming projects, such as the rehabilitation of the Cap-Haïtien port, and construction or rehabilitation plans for ports in Saint-Marc, Miragoâne, Port-de-Paix, Jérémie, La Gonâve, and Les Gonaïves.

The year 2024 promises to be an eventful one for the Haitian port sector. It will all start with the rehabilitation of the port of Cap-Haïtien, which is due to begin in a few days' time. Funding is already available, and the work will focus on the container and vehicle storage area, internal circulation and administrative buildings.
