Haiti grapples with overcrowded prisons and limited capacity. The occupancy level, based on Haiti's official capacity, stands at 454.4%, according to the latest ranking from "World Prison Brief," analyzing data from 207 countries. The space per inmate is just under 0.5 square meters in Haiti, far below the international standard of 4.5 square meters. The total prison population, including detainees, is 11,253 people in the country.
