Negative Assessment of Justice for the Year 2022-2023, the Prison Population Has Barely Changed

The judicial year 2022-2023 has been overwhelming. Jury-assisted criminal sessions did not take place in 16 jurisdictions across the country. Only 495 cases were processed during criminal sessions without jury assistance. According to the National Human Rights Defense Network (RNDDH), correctional and criminal hearings only affected the prison population by 0.61%. On the other hand, Me Martin Ainé, President of the National Association of Haitian Clerks (ANAGH), considers the year 2022-2023 catastrophic for Haitian justice.
