CARICOM Eminent Personalities Group Proposes Agreement to Haitian Political Figures

The CARICOM Eminent Personalities Group has submitted a proposed agreement to key political figures, outlining crucial points such as the formation of a seven-member transitional council, the establishment of a national unity government, the creation of a government action control body, constitutional reform, and the formation of an Electoral Provisional Council (CEP). This proposal aims to address the ongoing crisis, seeking examination and reactions from the involved parties.

This new agreement proposal from the CARICOM Eminent Personalities Group advocates for an 18-month transition period starting from the acceptance of the agreement. During this transition, Prime Minister Ariel Henry will remain in office, and the transitional council will be granted presidential powers to the extent possible.
