ULCC Recommends Legal Action Against Nenel Cassy for Illicit Enrichment and False Asset Declaration

The commission appointed by the General Directorate of the Anti-Corruption Unit (ULCC) to investigate the assets of former senator Nenel Cassy concluded that he made a false declaration of assets and engaged in illicit enrichment. The report reveals that between 2016 and 2017, the wealth of the former parliamentarian increased by a staggering amount of twenty-eight million twenty-five thousand four hundred seventy (28,025,470) gourdes.

Data and information gathered by ULCC investigators uncovered that former Senator Cassy did not comply with the asset declaration formalities outlined in the law of February 12, 2008, regarding asset declaration by certain categories of political personalities, officials, and other public agents. "Until the end of his mandate, the former Senator Cassy, according to the investigation data, had never fulfilled this formality," reads the executive summary of a ULCC investigation report published on Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
