"Education can never be an option; it is a necessity," according to the UNICEF representative in Haiti

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), through its representative in Haiti, Bruno Maes, has reaffirmed its commitment to support education efforts in Haiti. During the official launch ceremony of the 2023-2024 school year in the Grand'Anse department on September 11th, Bruno Maes advocated for the respect of children's right to education and highlighted UNICEF's significant achievements in supporting education in Haiti.

Present alongside Prime Minister Ariel Henry and the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Nesmy Manigat, Bruno Maes participated in the launch ceremony of the new academic year in Jérémie organized by the government on Monday, September 11th. In his speech, he praised the actors in the education system who contributed to the start of the new academic year under challenging circumstances.
