USA Provides Equipment to Strengthen HNP

Once again, the United States government has reaffirmed its support for the Haitian National Police (HNP). On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, the U.S. Embassy in Haiti handed over the keys to forty all-terrain vehicles to the HNP. The ceremony took place at the HNP's headquarters in Clercine and was attended by the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Emmelie Prophète Milcé, U.S. Chargé d'Affaires Éric Stromayer, Police Director General Frantz Elbé, police officials, and representatives from the National Assembly.

"The HNP is in need of vehicles. The police require numerous resources. Additionally, they need dedicated men and women who can assist them in extending their reach to meet the population's demands," stated Minister of Justice and Public Security Emmelie Prophète Milcé. She also expressed her concern about an ongoing campaign that seeks to undermine the efforts of the National Police in reestablishing peace within the neighborhoods.
