Rafaëlle Castera Through and For the Camera

A photographer since her early age, Rafaëlle Castera is one of the rare women who has solely lived off this art in Haiti. With over forty years of experience under her belt, this self-taught professional, author of three photography books, can boast of having successfully compiled an impressive bank of images and captured the most beautiful landscapes of this country.

As the world of photography in Haiti witnesses an influx of new faces, women still remain less visible in this field that retains its predominantly male character. However, some, through their talent and persistence, manage to build a career and make a name for themselves in the industry. Rafaëlle Castera is a perfect example.
