The university analyzes the challenges of new Haitian migrations

The scientific conference of the Center for Population and Development (CEPODE) at the Faculty of Humanities (FASCH), held on July 10th and 11th, 2023, provided an opportunity to analyze Haitian migration. On the first day, a panel consisting of Josué Vaval, coordinator of FASCH, and Hancy Pierre, project manager at CEPODE, moderated by Jean Pharès Jérôme, a former student of the Master's program in Population and Development (MAPODE), analyzed the new Haitian migration, with a focus on Chile and the United States of America.

During his presentation titled "Haitian Migration to Chile and Piñera's Administrative Measures," FASCH coordinator Josué Vaval analyzed the latest wave of Haitian migration to Chile and highlighted the decisions made by former President Piñera that contributed to reducing the mass departure of Haitians to Chile.
