Extreme Weather Events: 42 Fatalities, 85 Injuries, and 11 Individuals Missing

According to the Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC), as of Monday, June 5, the partial toll from the severe weather on June 2 and 3, 2023, stands at 42 dead, 85 injured, 11 missing, and 13,633 houses flooded. The most affected department is the West, according to the director of the DPC, who spoke on the Panel Magik show on Magik 9 on Monday, June 5.

The days of Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3 were marked by humid and unstable weather conditions that resulted in heavy rainfall in several regions of Haiti. "In the morning of June 3, heavy rains poured down on the country, causing rivers to overflow. The recorded rainfall amounts led to flooding and landslides in certain areas.
