There is no crime imaginable that has not been committed in Martissant over the past two years. On Tuesday, June 1, 2021, the warring armed groups caused irreparable disruption to the lives of tens of thousands of residents in this suburb of Port-au-Prince, consequently affecting the lives of millions of people in the four departments of the Grand South. Even after two years, Martissant continues to be a symbol of the authorities' inaction and failure in the war against gangs, serving as undeniable evidence of a failed state.
