Armed violence has worsened food insecurity in Haiti in 2023. Jean-Martin Bauer, a humanitarian with 22 years of experience, is calling on bandits to lay down their arms. "This has gone too far. The situation of violence has very detrimental consequences on the food and nutritional security of the population," said the country director of the World Food Programme.
"Haiti was a country that was relatively self-sufficient in terms of food in the 1980s. Today, we are in an acute food crisis, one of the worst food crises
