The story behind Haiti Babi is a touching one. Katlin Jackson Svik, the founder of the organization, began volunteering in Haiti at orphanages in 2011. Upon learning that 80% of orphans in Haiti have living parents but live at orphanages because their parents are unable to provide for them. She resolved to make a difference, and decided to create an organization in Cap-Haitian to give mothers jobs so that they could keep their children at home. In 2012, Haiti Babi was born.
