Chefs in Action:Haitian chefs unite for Hurricane Matthew victims

As part of an initiative of the Haitian Culinary Alliance and Kay Chef, 9,000 people in the Southern Peninsula and the Northern Department should be fed daily. Melissa Etienne, the public relations representative of the project, encourages donors at various levels (local, international institutions, individuals) to continue to support the initiative, whose duration depends on their support.

Following Hurricane Matthew, several Haitian chefs, including David Destinoble, Melissa Francois, and Jouvens Jean ensured that 230 children from an orphanage based in Wharf Jérémie, temporarily relocated to Delmas 3, were fed two meals daily. Once the orphans’ needs were met according to Etienne, the chefs thought to direct their engagement towards the people of the Southern Peninsula. Hence the #chefenaction project.
