The Hispaniolan Trogon is part of the Trogonidae species family. It is a very colorful bird whose name in Greek means ‘nibbling’. Perhaps it is because the Trogon gnaws holes in trees for their nests. The striking bird can be found in both Haiti and neighboring Dominican Republic. They are closely related to owls and mousebirds.
