Marie Vieux Chauvet : Guest of honor at 22nd edition of Livres en Folie 2016

On May 26th and 27th, Livres en Folie, Haiti’s largest annual book fair, will pay tribute to Marie Vieux Chauvet, the first lady of Haitian literature, according to the event organizers on Mach 28th. "For the 22nd edition of Livres en folie we have the pleasure to honor to pay tribute to Marie Vieux Chauvet, the first woman who emerged in the Haitian literary landscape through her work and the subjects she addressed,” said Max Chauvet, Director of Le Nouvelliste and Livres en Folie organizer since 1995.

"It is a duty to pay this tribute to Marie Vieux Chauvet because this year is the centennial of her birth. Born September 16, 1916 in Port-au-Prince, she died on June 19, 1973 in New York and so far no major event has been organized in the country to celebrate her life and works,” continued Chauvet.
