In 1989 Kavanagh won the Best New Comic Award of the Juste Pour Rire Festival (French: Just For Laughs) in Montreal. After winning this award, his career took off. Able to perform for both French and English audiences, he opened for artist such as Julio Iglesias and Natalie Cole and spent two years opening for celeb singer Celine Dion in all her Canadian shows. He is the youngest person to host his own show “Anthony” which debuts in 1993 in Quebec.
