Inauguration of Dr. Reynold Verret as President of Xavier University

On Friday, February 26, 2016, Dr. C. Reynold Verret will be officially installed as Xavier University’s 6th President. The week long festivities which kicked off on Monday, February 22nd, will not only celebrate this significant event in the University’s history but will also be Verret’s formal introduction to the New Orleans community in particular, the state of Louisiana, the United States and the world in general.

llDr. Verret replaces Dr. Norman Francis as president of the historically black university, the only catholic HBCU. Dr. Francis served as President of Xavier for 47 years. The inauguration will be full of pomp and circumstance including a presidential chain engraved with the university seal and the names of the new president's five predecessors. A grand marshal will lead the procession carrying the university's mace made of made of copper, brass and carved mahogany with Dr. Verret following adorned in his MIT robe.
