The city of Jacmel located in the Southeast region of Haiti, is one filled with culture and tradition. When one thinks about this alluring city, Carnaval is one of the first things that comes to mind. It is a celebration of Haitian culture and beauty, embodied in the colorful costumes and famous papier-mâché masks. The papier-mâché art is rooted in Jacmel, and is mainly used to make the incredible masks that bold revelers don during Haiti’s Carnival, as well as in All Saints Day and All Souls Day celebrations.
