An international workshop to eradicate rabies in Haiti

In 2015, Haiti is one of the few countries in the Western Hemisphere where a large number of people die from rabies. According to data made public, the Caribbean country has more than 70% of cases of human deaths from rabies in the region. According to Michel Chancy, Secretary of State for Animal Production, dogs are responsible for over 99% of all cases of rabies in Haiti.

Eliminate rabies in the country is the objective pursued by the Ministry of Public Health and Population and the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, with partners, through a three-day workshop which opens this Monday at the Mariott hotel.
