Lyonel and Evelyne Trouillot: Defenders of poetry

On June 14th, a debate was held on the role of poetry in today’s society. Author Lyonel Trouillot argued that poetry in itself is not threatened. Over the years, poetry and novels have lived together, he noted, citing names like Phelps,and Philoctetes. The hypothesis: "The era is no longer on of poetry, but the novel" said Lyonel and Evelyne Trouillot. "There was this vice in the Haitian literary practice, especially among young people in search of status, recognition and economic profit. Today we are indeed threatened by this statutory and commercial obsession that wins our literary circles. We are indeed in the era of those that use the literary question to solve problems and statutory recognition.
