EU: 14 million Euros to continue its humanitarian aid program in Haiti

The European Union (EU) has 14.6 million euros to help Haiti cope with recurrent problems such as cholera and natural disasters. The announcement was made on June 11th by the EU Ambassador in Haiti, Javier Niño Perez, accompanied by Raphael Brigandi, head of political affairs and communications of the EU, and Segolene De Beco the head of the ECHO office.

This new funding, according to EU officials, will enable partners like the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) to strengthen the response to the cholera epidemic, continue to support the Haitians who are displaced following the devastating earthquake of 2010, strengthen disaster preparedness, and improve food security for the most vulnerable. 5 million Euros are available to fight cholera outbreak in recent months.
