Marriott opens its doors in Port-au-Prince

The Marriott hotel in Port-au-Prince will welcome its first customers beginning March 1st. The hotel, which cost 45 million USD, has 175 rooms and employs more than 200 individuals.It gives a boost to business travel, tourism, and the Haitian economy. According to former US President Bill Clinton, it's a great opportunity to show the world that Haiti is capable of receiving good investments.

The Marriott hotel provides a new framework in the field of hospitality in Haiti. Construction began in late 2012 and on Tuesday, February 24th, the keys to the hotel were handed over. The hotel will officially open on March 1st, and an event marking the official opening is scheduled for June 2015. Michel Martelly, President of the Republic, who attended the ceremony, explained that this project has a double meaning.
