Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness: What can Haiti learn from the Taiwanese model?

Tsai Chiu Hwang, Taiwanese Ambassador to Haiti, and economist Kesner Pharel, General Director of the Group Croissance, were both speakers at the 24th Evening of Networking of CEDEL HAITI, organized on Friday, September 26, 2014. This activity takes place on the last Friday of each month and it is a discussion forum for entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs, students, and experts in various fields.

The 24th evening assumed a unique topic with the presence of these two guests who spoke about the Taiwanese economy and the Haitian economy. For approximately 60 years, Taiwan was at the same level of development as Haiti. How then, in less than 50 years, was the Asian country able to make an extraordinary leap towards development to become the 14th world economy? The evening began with a presentation by economist Kesner Pharel who was introduced by Rock Andre, Genreral Director of CEDEL HAITI, who played the role of moderator for the evening.
