No fewer than 21 hopefuls had their eye on the bejeweled headwear designed by Pascale Theard and fabricated by Lionel St. Eloi. These finalists, hailing from the four corners of the country and even the diaspora, New York City to be exact, underwent a two-month training process to prepare for that breezy September night. The pageant committee consisting of stylists, designers, and business professionals coached the young woman on civic responsibility, poise, and eloquence from dusk ‘til dawn nearly seven days a week leading up to the big night.
