Solar Punch: Music benefits renewable energy

The auditorium of Collège Christ-Roi in Cap Haitien looked like a mini physics laboratory. Solar panels were installed outside and inside there was a charge controller, two batteries and an inverter just to name electrical elements. Electric power operated the sound system for "Solar Punch" the American rock band visiting Haiti as part of the third Festival of the Sea event.

On Saturday, August 2, 2014 everyone sat quietly while waiting for the sun to reach its peakat the Boulevard du Cap-Haitien where Collège Christ-Roi is located. The auditorium of the school was occupied by students, young professionals passionate about the environment, media professionals, and alternative energy enthusiasts. The American group uses music to sing about science and environmental protection. The group members explained to the audience how solar panels work, the different types of panels and batteries, advantages and disadvantages
