On Sunday, July 27th, President Michel Martelly officially declared the opening of Carnaval des Fleurs, crossing the parade route on foot and then driving a Polaris to the stand of the Presidency. The night was still young when he left the Champ de Mars to go to the airport. He took a flight to Trinidad and Tobago where he arrived shortly after midnight.
According to a press release, the purpose of the trip was to allow President Martelly to hold meetings with Kamla P. Bissessar, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidadian entrepreneurs
