Haiti and Venezuela: our relationship is far from new

Pedro Antonio Canino Gonzalez, Ambassador of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to Haiti, held a reception to celebrate the 203rd anniversary of the signing of the act of the independence of his country on Saturday, July 5th, a milestone in Pétion-Ville. According to the Venezuelan diplomat solidarity, recognition, restitution, compensation, interstate relations, and the South-South cooperation is strongly manifested in Venezuela actions towards Haiti.

During a convivial evening, Ambassador Gonzalez, his countrymen, and several guests sang the national anthems of Haiti and Venezuela. During this celebration, the Ambassador honored the memory of Simón Bolívar and Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez. The ceremony was rich in color, and was chaired by the Venezuelan diplomat in the presence of Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and other distinguished guests, including Henri Robert Sterlin, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Bernadito Auza, Apostolic Nuncio, Ruben Silié Valdez, Ambassador
