The OFATMA Hospital inaugurated in Les Cayes

On Tuesday, June 10th, President Michel Martelly officially opened the OFATMA Hospital in Les Cayes initiated by his predecessor, former President René Préval. This project was funded by the Republic of China under the Taiwan-Haiti Cooperation and executed by the Taiwanese firm, Oversees Engineering Construction Company (OECC). The President was accompanied by the Ministers of Health, Social Affairs, Sports and Dr. Max Rudolph St Albain, General Director of OFATMA. The building houses two operating rooms, an operating theater, a maternity room and several other services. The President said that a helicopter ambulance is already available to serve the population.

The President thanked the Taiwanese government for their contribution to development of the country. Tsai Chiu Hwang, Ambassador of Taiwan in Haiti, said his country is willing to continue to assist Haiti’s development. He welcomed the cooperation between the two countries.
