Martelly calls for "unity and "congregation"

As is the tradition, President Michel Martelly,, along with other Haitian government officials, celebrated Hatian Flag Day on May 18th in Arcahaie. President Martelly reiterated his belief in the need for a "permanent dialogue" and "unity" between political actors in order to move toward progress and democracy.

Early in the morning on Sunday, May 18th, the city of Arcahaie prepared for the celebration. Its main streets were nicely adorned. Along with the first lady, the Prime Minister, and the Presidents of the two branches of Parliament, President Martelly placed a floral arrangement at the foot of the statue of Catherine Flon, who sewed the Haitian flag following the Congress of Arcahaie in 1803.
