Haiti and two popes made saints

Four popes made history on Sunday April 27, 2014. Two became saints through their actions, but also through the decisions of their successors. Haiti, one way or another, has been marked by the action of the two new saints.

On Sunday, April 27th, Popes Francis and Benedict XVI participated in an unprecedented event in the history of the Catholic Church: the canonization of two former Popes, John XXIII and John Paul II, on the same day. In Haiti, elders remember Pope John XXIII, and a school is named after him. Pope John XXIII changed the face of the Church. In Haiti, he opened the way for the introduction of the drum and masses in Creole. John Paul II is the most famous pope in Haiti. In March 1983, the Polish-born pope visited Haiti and launched the famous phrase
