llHaiti’s largest micro lender has returned to 119 Avenue Christophe in downtown Port-au-Prince. The company’s headquarters’ was damaged beyond repair in the 2010 earthquake, forcing the bank to move to a temporary location in the neighborhood of Pacot.
Today Fonkoze will be housed in an earthquake resistant bu8ilding designed by Miyamoto International. An engineer on the Miyamoto design team stated of the new structure, “The steel frame in Fonkoze’s building is highly effective for seismic energy dissipation.”
