U.S. lawmakers to discuss Haitian Parliament elections

A delegation of U.S. congressmen visited the Haitian Parliament on Friday, March 28th. Accompanied by Ambassador Pamela A. White, this delegation, all from Florida, met with the presidents of the two branches of Parliament, in the presence of several deputies and Senators. The organization of the next elections and relations between the executive and the legislature branches were discussed during the meeting.

"The main objective of this meeting is to encourage the Haitian authorities, the Parliament in particular, on the need for democratic, fair and inclusive elections. Then, to encourage them to work with the executive branch in order to achieve it," said Yliana Ros-Lechtinen, Head of the Delegation, who mentioned that she noticed a lot of progress in the country.
