Strengthening the capacity of Haitian municipalities

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM in French), the Quebec Municipalities Union (UMQ in French), and the City of Montreal launched the second phase of the Canada/Haiti Municipal Cooperation Program PMC2 in French) in the presence of the Minister of the Interior and Local Authorities, and the Interim Mayor of Port-au-Prince. The second phase of this program will build on the progress made over the past three years to complete the institutional strengthening of five local authorities.

A delegation consisting of Denis Coderre, Mayor of the City of Montreal, Claude Dauphin, President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and Suzanne Roy, Vice President of the Union of Municipalities of Quebec, joined David Bazile, Minister of the Interior and local authorities in Haiti, to sign a memorandum of understanding outlining their renewed collaboration.
