New veterinary agents to strengthen livestock

Nearly a hundred veterinary officers, trained to assist farmers and peasants in the 180 communal sections of the 20 communities of the Department of the West, graduated on Friday, February 14th, at a ceremony held in the premises of the Agricultural Departmental Direction for of the West (DDAO in French). The new officers are also mandated to promote public health in different slaughterhouses.

Health and protection of livestock and poultry in the Department of the West are issues which concern DDAO. Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture has recognized the need to increase the number of veterinarians in the West. With 93 new graduates, the number of veterinary agents in the department increased from 200 to 293. The presence of these new agents will be noticed especially in the communal sections.
