OAS Secretary General Albert Ramdin does not know what will happen to the CPT on February 7, 2026, the date their mandate expires under the April 3, 2024 agreement. But he does know that there must not be a void, a political vacuum.
Will the CPT stay or go? “I don’t know. There could be different options. There could be a new round of negotiations. CARICOM can help us, and we have asked it to play a role in this regard,” he told Le Nouvelliste in an interview on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
