“Leave! Have the Courage to Step Down,” Clarens Renois Tells Haiti’s Transitional Council

Clarens Renois, leader of the political party Unir-Haïti, is calling on the members of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) to take responsibility for their actions. During an interview on Magik 9 on Tuesday, April 1, 2025—two days before the first anniversary of the April 3 agreement that gave rise to the CPT—Mr. Renois appealed to the “patriotic soul” of the members of this body, urging them to “rise to the level of the country’s history.”

Criticized both by the sectors that appointed them and by the general population, the CPT has been slow to deliver the expected results as the April 3 agreement approaches its one-year mark. For Clarens Renois, the CPT members have two options: resign, or reform the structure from within by finding consensus with other political forces. Otherwise, according to the Unir-Haïti leader, the end of the CPT era is inevitable.
